Navigating Career Burnout
One of the biggest mistake I see professional women make is ignoring the signals and messages that their body is giving as it relates to their career.
Your body can give you signals about your career through physical sensations, emotions, and behaviors.
Signals such as feeling exhausted and drained, losing interest and motivation in your work, experiencing physical and emotional symptoms such as headaches and anxiety, and becoming less productive and effective in work tasks can all be categorized as symptoms of career burnout.
Do not ignore the signs!!!!!!!!!!
Career burnout can have negative effects on both mental and physical health. Experiencing career burnout can negatively affect your personal brand by causing a decrease in your productivity, creativity, and overall performance. This can then lead to a reputation of being unreliable and unproductive, which can harm your personal brand and ultimately your career success in the long run.
It's important to recognize the symptoms and take steps to address the root cause before they escalate.
Contrary to popular belief, the challenges you experience in your working world are not the cause of your career burnout. Challenges are necessary for your growth and expansion.
Also, taking a vacation, sabbatical or a reduced schedule does not cure career burnout. Time off is a way to recharge and can be helpful in managing career burnout, but it is not the cure-all. Changing your perspective and your internal narrative about you who you are is. The key to banishing career burnout is in your self-worth.
Redefining and creating a new perspective of yourself and building your self-worth can be an effective remedy for career burnout because it will:
Empower you to value you. When you value you and what you carry you are empowered to:
a. Set boundaries to protect you and your energy
b. Show up with intention
Empower you to seek opportunities that aligns with your values, skills and strengths. Burnout can occur when there is a mismatch between your values, interests, skills, and the demands of your job.
Empower you to reassess your priorities and your career goals. Taking the time to reassess your priorities and career goals can be a valuable exercise in achieving greater fulfillment and success in your working world. By identifying your values and aspirations, you can make more informed decisions about your career path and take steps towards achieving your objectives.
Reminder, you have control over your career and life. Personal leadership starts with owning your narrative which includes the story that you tell yourself about who you are, what you are capable of, and your place in the world. When you value who you are and what you carry, not only do you show up differently but you are equipped to thrive.
