The High Cost of Shame
Each year (or quarter) you find yourself writing down the same goals - the things you want, the things you need to do.
But the year (or quarter) comes to an end, and the same list is carried forward – untouched!
What is holding you back?
Yes, fear is a culprit. But let’s go deeper than the fear.
You are afraid to go after your dreams .
Not because you are not capable.
Not because you are not worthy.
Not because you don’t know the next step to take.
You are afraid to go after your dreams because you feel ASHAMED
Ashamed of the choices you made in the past.
Ashamed of the mistakes you made in the past.
Ashamed of your journey.
Ashamed of your circumstances.
Yes, accomplishing your dream and operating in your zone of radiance increases the chances that your choices, your mistakes, your circumstances, your journey will be revealed for others to see and judge. So as a result you hide!
This is your story!
I define SHAME as Sabotaging Habits Aimed at Minimizing your Existence.
SHAME holds you hostage from your dreams.
The goal of SHAME is to keep you from dreaming bigger, from going after your dreams and instead play small in all arenas of your life.
You really have 2 choices
Allow SHAME to hold you hostage from your dreams,
Or
Embrace and own your story (all of it) and bring the possibilities of your dream to reality.
If you want to change your story going forward, you must redefine the narrative that you tell yourself about who you are. Your story is yours to define.
There are 3 rules:
1. You are not Your thoughts. Aim to be the perceiver of your thoughts rather than the subject.
2. Your wounds should inform you, not define you. Your wounds are a part of your journey, yeah but they are not you
3. You are not your experiences. Your experiences inform your direction, not define you.
Redefine your narrative and give yourself permission to authentically lead in your POWER in every space. The world is waiting on you.
